HDS student Dillon Harrison has been shortlisted for the Young Drummer Of The Year Award 2015 and will perform in the competitions final in February. Dillon, who is taught by HDS head tutor Martin Davies is the youngest contestant in the finals, at just 11 years old. The competition was put together to give the country’s young drumming talent a national and indeed international platform, which is hoped to be the first steps in their musical career.
In the year following the finals, the winner is kept very busy! Past winners have made numerous TV and radio appearances, as well as support slots for the like of Billy Ward and Thomas Lang, Horacio “El Negro” Hernandez and Stanton Moore and every winner traditionally opens the Drummer Live show in London.
Over the next few months Dillon will be working hard with Martin preparing for the event
We will let you know how he got on, good luck Dillon!
